Last week, I decided that yall needed to see the great work Doc Funk is doing with his NBA captions. Now, you shall see it again. Here are my favorite five from the past seven days, but be sure to head over to Brain on Funk where you can see all of his many, many other hilarious and insightful photos.
(Yes, I know it’s not Friday anymore, but (a) it still is for two more minutes on the West Coast, and (b) Doc Funk Saturday doesn’t sound as good.)
This video really isn’t for everyone. Honestly, it’s probably not for many. Possibly, it’s just for me. But from my vantage point on life, this nine-minute video of Sasha Vujacic visiting an elementary school in Los Angeles may be more comedically enjoyable than anything else featured on this blog today.
And, more importantly, posting this video allows me to mention that I was only able to discover the footage of Sasha hanging out with these kids after a friend informed me about Sasha’s new-ish personal website SashaVujacic18.com, which was designed by the guy who runs LABallTalk.com, which is the website where I first saw a link to The Machine Videos, which in its latest episode attached the crybaby-label to Jerry Sloan, who I once compared to Tommy Lee Jones, who, in 1991, starred in the Oliver Stone film JFK with…Kevin Bacon.
It seems that concurrent with a televised taping of Tommy Heinsohn reading from his new book “Sagacity Manifesto” that was taking place in the Banknorth Garden last night, a pretty good basketball game broke out.
Per usual, Boston’s defense and a late-game onslaught by one of the Big 4 (Rondo this time, who dropped 12 points in the final five minutes and iced the win with a steal) were too much for Utah to overcome, but there was never a sense that the Celtics ever had them completely outmatched. Deron even kept it interesting late with his signature “I piss on pressure’s grave” theatrics, before his injury-plagued squad became the 15th straight team to have their dreams crushed by the Celtics.
But while the Jazz hung around admirably without Booz (mainly due to his understudy Paul Millsap’s sasquatch strength-fueled dominance), Coach Sloan wasn’t particularly pleased with his squad’s physicality. (via Slam)
“It looked like we were scared to play against them to start the ballgame,” said Sloan. “Looked like we wanted to play out on the perimeter and take jump shots…They’re awfully hard to get the ball inside on, because they’re an excellent defensive team and they knock you around a bit.”
“Our guys wanted to stay outside because I think they were afraid they’d get hurt. They had us intimidated a great deal and had us out on the perimeter. We never did fully recover.”
The lesson? We man up round these parts, fellas. Get steppin to.
UPDATE: Pierce also left the game with an apparent knee mallady in the final minute or so…but it sounds like he’s fine.

KG had long been the guy that most fans and fellow players wanted to see get a ring. Now that he’s got that shiny stuff, Dime asks the TNT crew who they hope can climb the mountain next.
Reggie Miller: “For me it’s Jason Kidd. And he’s playing under Rick Carlisle, one of my former coaches who I have great respect for. … I like to see older players like Kidd who have paid their dues, guys like KG, those are the guys I’d love to see get a chance to get another shot.”
Doug Collins predictably goes with a coach, Jerry Sloan, and Marv predictably doesn’t have an opinion of his own and swaggerjacks Reggie’s JKidd pick
Personally, I think I have to go with TMac, as I presume he’s going to get a pretty raw deal from history if he doesn’t at least make it to a Finals. Plus, we would all essentially be winners once Tru Warier started spitting freestyles at the Championship parade.
