Tyreke Evans hasn’t had the best season. He’s been a little injured, reportedly mopey and just generally not looking like the guy who put up one of the best statistical rookie seasons of all time last year. More frustratingly for him, I would hope, is that he plays on the worst team in the NBA — quantitatively, by record, and qualitatively, by my assessment of watching them play horrible basketball. (The fact that they are so bad to watch this year after being so much fun to watch last year is as mind-boggling as it is infuriating. I need Omri Casspi back in my life.)
But for one night, the Kings were the … wait for it … kings of the NBA.
‘Reke hit the most miraculous game-winner since that Devin Harris re-gather chuck a couple of seasons ago. Perhaps even better, the brilliant Tom Ziller has watched and re-watched the entire sequence (OJ Mayo hit a near-game winner just prior, some dude rambled out on the court, Donté Green went nuts, etc.) and has given us his power rankings of the video.
Coming in at #3 (which I immediately thought was way too low until I watched Donté a few times) is “Grizzlies TV bro,” the aforementioned dude that rambled out on the court after OJ hit his shot. Go over to Sactown Royalty for the rest because it’s pretty hilarious.
Most importantly, hopefully this gets Tyreke out of his funk. You’re supposed to ascend to Durantula levels, dude. Get back on track.
The Tyreke quote really ties the room together. Yes really.
