The Spinning Dagger? Yeah, I’m not saying that.

And The Natural isn’t horrible, but it seems to be one of those only local names that has not yet, and thus never will, catch on nationally. It’s not like The Money Man for Memo Okur bad, but it’s not particularly captivating either. “Great shot there by The Natural” isn’t really fun to say.

Know what is fun though? Watching Brandon hit a big three and yelling “DAGGERS.”

No, no, no. You can’t call him “Daggers.” Why?
1. Because it’s a dumb name – it sounds like a villain from the sequel to “Goonies”
2. Because it is too similar to that of his teammate Rudy “The Spinning Dagger” Fernandez.
3. Because he already has a great nickname – “The natural.” No, it isn’t glamorous or flashy – but neither is Brandon – he just gets the job done. I was at his fifty point game last December, and if I wasn’t taking notes, I would never have noticed how he was dominating the game. He just casually scores – over, and over and over.
4. Because it is a really dumb name. Like the sort of name Delonte West would chose for himself.
