There are a lot of good females running around the NBA blogosphere, so it wasn’t altogether surprising to discover Heels on Hardwood to be a pretty dope site last night.
The best part I’ve seen from my limited scrolling is Nat’s “Numbers of the Night” feature in which she breaks down the League into a series of, you guessed it, numbers. Some examples from her most recent:
24 Turnovers for the Raptors on a night when they shot a dismal 38% from the field – recipe for disaster
3 “Finger Wags” from Mount Mutombo in 25 minutes, as he got the start with Yao out with the flu
2 Points for Rudy Fernandez as he shakes of the hurt that was laid on him by Ariza last week
54% 3 PT shooting for the Grizz the only category they beat the Blazers in en route to increasing their chances at the #1 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft
1 Air ball thrown up by Tony Parker who had a chance to give the Spurs the win or take the game to overtime.
Essentially, she’s aggregating some of the more illustrative figures from the night that was in our fine Association and, thereby, saving me the time of looking them up myself, which is always nice. She’s also got a good list of NBA sites that are hosting March Madness pools if you wanna get on those.
More importantly, she has a Photoshop (below) of recently imprisoned Nets center Sean Williams, who was arrested last night in Denver for throwing a computer monitor in a cell phone store.
“The investigation indicated that Sean Williams had been involved in a verbal altercation with the clerk at the store,” Pinson said in a release. “He then picked up a computer monitor and threw it inside the store. The monitor was broken and also caused damage to a printer and signature pad.”
Damages were estimated at $1,200 to $1,300, he said.
I’m not an according to Hoyle millionaire, so repaying that amount of money in damages would sort of suck. But I did once throw a computer monitor out of a third-story dorm room window and it was pretty damn fun.
All in all, it’s probably a wash.
