Respeckinize D’Antoni’s Gangstafication

It’s rather well known round these parts that Mike D’Antoni is an OG. Donnie Walsh understood full well that when you hire the M to the DA he is going to show up to work packin a mack in the back a the Ac. It’s just part of the D’Antoni package (and allegedly the main reason he fell out with Steve Kerr, who’s rumored to be a Latin King).

Lately, Mike has been bringing the hood to the sidelines of MSG by throwin’ up his set, something that is starting to cause some controversy around New York.

Really, none of this should be surprising. Phil Jackson famously uses his Zen-leaning hippie learned tendencies to inspire his players to read books and run the Triangle, and all coaches bring their personal life to their professional world.

Jim O’Brien, for instance, is a leprechaun and you can see how, even in the midst of coaching a game, he remains ever vigilant against those who may attempt to steal his pot of gold.

Similarly, Steve Van Gundy’s true passion is aeronautics and he cannot help but bring the behavior he uses while moonlighting as an air-traffic controller to the sidelines.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Sure, gold security, maintaining safe skies and bangin’ are all noble side projects for a coach to have — but what set does D’Antoni rep?”

Well, I’m no snitch, but let’s just say you shouldn’t be surprised if you see Mike walking up and down the sidelines in an upcoming game. It aint a dance.
