All preseason, people have been headhunting Greg Oden to try to earn cash and prizes for dunking on the second-year rookie. (I like to think of him like Wooderson in Dazed and Confused. “I keep getting older but these rookies stay the same age.”)
And according to Casey Holdahl over at the Trail Blazers Center Court, big fella couldn’t be happier about it.
“It’s kind of flattering,” says Oden. “People respect my defense enough that they’re actually paying money to see if somebody can dunk on me.
“I’ve got a bull’s eye on my back, so I guess guys are coming after me.”
And as for the great “dunked on” grammatical debate of ‘08, Greg is staunchly on the side of those who say that, if you’re in the photo, you got dunked on. As am I.
“I mean, I was in the vicinity,” said Oden. “I’ve had this argument a lot. When you’re in the vicinity; if you’re in the picture, you got dunked on.”
